Equinox In Chichen Itzá

The Spring Equinox occurs when the  plane of Earth’s equator passes the center of the Sun.
One of the most important events in the world is the Equinox at Chichen Itza, a phenomenon which for the Mayans meant the beginning of the planting, which they picked up with the arrival of the autumn equinox.
It Is a tradition that thousands of visitors come to the archaeological site to witness the shadow of the Kukulcán pyramid that forms the body of a snake with seven triangles of light coming down the stairs and finish off in the head of the feathered serpent located at the based on the sunset.

The Mayan Journey

The Sacred Mayan Journey was a ritual that Mayan people used to do, padding their canoes towards the old Cozamil, current Cozumel, with the aim of offering worship to the goddess Ixchel, goddess of the moon, tides and fertility.

Today there are more than 300 canoeists who gather every year.
